Transform Your Woodland Photography. Reconnect With Nature.

You don’t need epic views – just a camera and your local woods. Learn to slow down, see differently and capture what matters.

Start With What’s Right on Your Doorstep.

You don’t need to chase dramatic landscapes to create meaningful images. I’ve spent years photographing local woods – failing often, learning slowly and discovering that the quietest scenes are sometimes the most powerful.

Now I teach others to do the same. Through 1-to-1 workshops, editing support and practical guidance, I’ll help you build confidence with your camera and start seeing the forest differently.

Whether you’re here to improve your photos or reconnect with nature, you’re in good company.

What My Customers Say.

Hear from my customers, in their own words, about their experience working with Tim Smalley Photography.

“Wow, just wow. Tim’s workshop was beyond what I expected. I’ve been dabbling in woodland photography for a while now, but never really got the hang of how to truly capture the essence of a forest scene. Tim’s guidance was just what I needed.

He knows exactly how to break things down, and his tips on lighting and composition really stuck with me – they really opened my eyes to the possibilities. I felt like I left with a whole new set of skills! He’s also super approachable, which made it easy to ask questions without feeling awkward. Oh, and the location… stunning! Would recommend in a heartbeat. Thanks again, Tim!”

“I’ve been buying prints and calendars from Tim Smalley for several years now, and the quality just keeps getting better! Every calendar is a work of art, and I look forward to the new one every year. The woodland scenes change so beautifully with the seasons, and I love that each image is taken in the month it represents—it makes the calendar feel special. As for the prints, I have three hanging in my home now, and they never fail to impress. The fine art paper makes them look like paintings, and the colours are so soft and natural. I’ll be back for more, without a doubt!”

“I recently purchased one of Tim’s special edition prints, and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever owned. The size is enormous, and the bespoke nature of the print allowed me to choose exactly the right dimensions for my space. It feels incredibly exclusive knowing that only a handful of people in the world will ever own this piece. The unique mounting is something I’ve never seen before—it adds a whole new level of sophistication and really makes the artwork stand out. This is no ordinary print; it’s a true masterpiece!”

I’ve purchased a lot of art over the years, but this special edition print is one of the most impressive. The size is absolutely stunning, and being able to customise it to fit my space made the whole process feel really bespoke. Knowing that there are only a handful of these in the world adds a real sense of exclusivity. The unique mounting technique is a real showstopper, making it feel more like an installation than a traditional print.”

I can’t believe how much of a difference this session made to my editing skills! I thought I was doing alright before, but Tim opened my eyes to so many new techniques, especially when it came to bringing out the greens and browns without making them look oversaturated. I feel like I have a whole new understanding of colour and light now. And Tim is such a great teacher, he made sure I understood everything and didn’t mind repeating things when I asked. I’ve already been using the things he taught me in my recent edits, and my photos have never looked this good. If you’re looking to up your game, this is definitely worth it.

“Booking a session with Tim was the best decision I’ve made for my photography. I’m fairly new to editing and was always intimidated by the technical side, but Tim made everything feel so approachable. He helped me see things I would have never noticed before, like how to use local adjustments to create layers in my photos. My woodland shots have so much more atmosphere now, it’s like the viewer can actually feel the forest. And I love that he worked with my own images, so I could see the improvement right there in my own work. I was so impressed that I went ahead and booked the 3-session package. If you’re on the fence, I say go for it. You won’t regret it!

“I attended one of Tim’s woodland photography workshops recently, and it was honestly the best photography experience I’ve had. What really sets this workshop apart is the personal attention he gave.

He was constantly providing feedback, offering suggestions, and helping me to understand how to work with light and composition in such a dynamic natural environment. The practical advice on how to shoot under changing weather conditions was incredibly useful. And let’s not forget the scenery – absolutely stunning, and really local to me too.

I walked away from the workshop with photos that I’m incredibly proud of, and I’ve never felt more confident with my camera. Totally worth every penny – I’d recommend it to anyone.”
